Welcome to Fyfield Cricket Club
The club was first formed in the late 19th century, playing on a field with just a wicket cut short and the outfield being home to cattle. The club moved to it's present home at Fyfield Sports Field in 1950. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength, currently fielding teams on both Saturday and Sunday's.
The club's first taste of league cricket came in 1991 in the Herts & Essex Observer League becoming league champions in 1994. The club transferred to the Mid Essex League in 2001. Feeling the need for a change to help the club progress, Fyfield moved back to the Herts & Essex Cricket League from the 2012 season.
Sunday matches are all friendlies, usually made up of 40 overs a side. We encourage the older colts to play in these friendly fixtures as a way to develop their skills and confidence.
The club first ran colts in 1988 with U13 and U15 teams. From 2001 to 2008 the club was unable to accommodate young players. Thankfully colts cricket returned to the club in 2009 and has been growing every since. The club now fields teams at U9, U10, U11, U13 and U14 age groups.
The club atmosphere is very friendly, and the teas are always excellent. Our pavilion, which is part of the village hall, was built in 1977. The Sports and Social Club run the bar and look after the playing field.
The club always welcomes new members and players of all ages and abilities.
